The first implementation of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A project titled “The Use of Content on the Tabii Platform in Terms of Raising Awareness of Genocide, Human Rights Violations, and War Crimes”, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Çakar Çelik and carried out by our Department student Leylanur Çelik, was held.
Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Active Citizens Student Society, the first event featured a seminar delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Çakar Çelik on genocide, human rights violations, war crimes, and the Bosnian Genocide.
During the seminar, human rights violations and war crimes throughout history were discussed, with particular emphasis on the Bosnian Genocide as an example. The importance of social memory, human rights awareness, and raising awareness was also highlighted. In addition, evaluations were made on how content available on digital platforms can be used to develop awareness of such issues.
As the Department of Social Studies Education, we congratulate our project advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Çakar Çelik, our project coordinator student Leylanur Çelik, and the Active Citizens Student Society, which contributed to the organization of the event, and wish them success in their future work.
