Awareness Seminar on Media and Culture by the Women’s Life Unit

The Women’s Life Unit hosted a seminar aimed at raising social awareness, featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Çakar Çelik from Fırat University Faculty of Education as the guest speaker. The event, held at the Ahmet Kabaklı Conference Hall, focused on the topic “Culture and Media: The Effects of Media on Society.”

During the seminar, the transformative influence of media on cultural values, the manipulation of mass audiences, and the dangers faced by young people through digital platforms and television series were comprehensively discussed.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çelik illustrated the effects of media content on family structure and social norms with concrete examples and provided striking insights into the importance of media literacy. With a strong turnout from parents, the seminar also offered practical suggestions on how families can protect their children from the potential harms of digital media.

Participants stated that the seminar was both enlightening and instructive, expressing their wish for more such events to continue in the future.
